Calella de Palafrugell is about 45 minutes away and Tossa de Mar about 40; inland, the Olot volcanoes are less than an hour away. With a car booked in Girona, you choose the cove or the route, and the times you leave and come back. On Amovens you can rent for as little as one hour, so a day at the beach or the volcanoes doesn't cost you a whole weekend.
The airport is in Vilobí d'Onyar, about 13 km south of the city. Meet the owner there, or choose one who offers delivery to the terminal: the listing shows it before you book.
The high-speed train from Barcelona takes just under 40 minutes and stops in the Eixample. Cars in that neighbourhood are a short walk from the station, suitcase still in hand.
Car access to the old town is restricted, so it's easiest to pick the car up outside it, in the Eixample or Santa Eugènia, and leave it there when you get back. See the council's Barri Vell traffic rules.
Girona's low-emission zone also keeps out cars without an environmental label. Cars on Amovens are under 15 years old and carry at least a B label.
Cadaqués is worth a whole day. It's around 1 h 15 min away, with a winding last stretch over the Serra de Rodes. Waiting for you there are the whitewashed village by the sea, the Dalí House-Museum in Portlligat (book your visit well ahead) and the Cap de Creus lighthouse, the easternmost point of the Iberian Peninsula. In summer, parking in the centre is hard, so leave the car at the entrance to the village.
Available cars in Girona include seven-seat SUVs and electric passenger vans. They work for a wedding in the Empordà, for taking bikes to the Vía Verde or for six friends with luggage. See SUVs for rent or vans.
It depends on the car, the dates and how long you rent it: each owner sets their own price. You see the total price before you book, with comprehensive insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance included. Renting for a few hours instead of a whole day also means you only pay for what you use.
You need to be at least 21 and to hold a car driving licence (category B), valid in Spain and held for at least 1 year. The first time you rent, Amovens validates your ID card, NIE or passport and your licence. For cars Amovens considers premium, the minimum age is 25.
Yes, you can rent from a few hours to several days, depending on what each owner allows. It's handy for errands, a small move or a weekend away.
It may be: if your booking has a deposit, you'll see it before you confirm. The amount depends on the car, the rental length, your age and other booking details. It's held on your card and released a few days after the rental, minus any extra costs. More about deposits.
It always includes the car for the time you book, with a number of kilometres based on the rental length, comprehensive insurance with Omocom and 24/7 roadside assistance. Fuel or charging, tolls, parking and fines are on you. Extra equipment depends on the car and is listed in the ad. See the insurance.
Not if the car has Amovens Sin Llaves: you unlock and lock it with the app and do the photos and check from your phone. For other cars, yes, you meet the owner and check the car's condition, mileage and fuel together.
The included kilometres depend on the rental length and are shown before you confirm the booking; fuel or charging is on you. If you're planning a long trip, you can buy extra kilometres before the rental starts, which works out better than going over: extra kilometres you haven't bought cost 50% more. When you finish, return the car with the same fuel or charge level it had at pick-up.
Yes, as long as you do it before the rental starts: when you book or by editing your booking. The price is shown at that point. The additional driver must meet the same requirements as you, and can't drive until Amovens approves their documents.
