Help center Rental Owner help Parking tickets

Parking tickets

If you, as an owner, have received a parking ticket in relation to a rental, the renter may be liable and you can request reimbursement from the renter for the cost.

When a renter is liable for a parking ticket

Renters are responsible for parking tickets issued between the time they picked up the car and the time they returned it.

For Keyless rentals, renters are also responsible for parking tickets received after the car was returned, until the car is subsequently moved.

If you receive a parking ticket

  1. Pay straight away
This helps to avoid late payment fees, which renters are not liable for. Rest assured, you will be reimbursed if your claim is valid.
  2. Find the relevant rental
Navigate to Rentals, Completed, select the relevant booking and look for the New expense claim button at the top of the page. You can also find the relevant rental using your car’s Calendar on Your car(s).
  3. Submit an expense claim
Make sure you have a photo of your ticket ready, then head to the relevant booking and submit an expense claim. Read about how expense claims work here.

Prevent parking tickets by writing clear instructions

Head to Your car(s), select the relevant car then navigate to Instructions and description. From here you should update the following fields:

  • During the rental
Clearly document any parking licenses or restrictions your car has, and explain where your car can and cannot be parked during the rental.
  • Returning the car
Write clear, detailed instructions about parking rules in your area. Mention any permit requirements, parking restrictions, street cleaning schedules, permit-only zones, restricted hours or any other restrictions. Also mention any places your car should not be parked.

Keep your instructions up-to-date. Amovens can’t hold renters responsible for mistakes related to outdated or incorrect information instructions.

Communication is always helpful too. Consider sending a friendly message to renters reminding them of where they can or can’t park when they’re returning your car.
