Help center Rental Owner help How fuel works

How fuel works

Renters pay for the fuel they use, so you’re never left out-of-pocket.

For information on charging and electric vehicles go here.

How much fuel should you provide the car with?

We ask that you try to ensure the car has a good amount of fuel before a rental begins. A full tank results in a more convenient experience for the renter.

How costs are settled at the end of a rental

Keyless

For Keyless rentals the fuel levels will be automatically recorded at the start and end of a rental. If for a technical reason we can’t automatically receive the fuel levels the renter will be instructed to document them by taking photos at the start and end of the rental using the Amovens app.

  • If there is less fuel than when the car was picked up the renter will automatically be charged the difference according to Amovens’s current fuel price. The money will be transferred to your Amovens account. You can then pay it out to your bank account.
  • If there is more fuel than when the car was picked up the renter will automatically be refunded the difference according to Amovens’s current refund price. The money will be transferred from your Amovens account balance.

To see the current prices we charge and refund for fuel go to How fuel works in the Your rental section at the bottom of any booking.

Non-Keyless

For non-Keyless rentals, you, as the owner, will be instructed to document the fuel levels using the Amovens app in the pick-up and return contract.

  • If there is less fuel than when the car was picked up you will have the option to charge the renter the difference. Amovens will initiate the charge automatically and transfer the money to your Amovens account once it has been collected.
  • If there is more fuel than when the car was picked up you will have the option to refund the renter the difference. Amovens will initiate the charge automatically and transfer the money to your Amovens account once it has been collected.

If you disagree with the reported fuel levels

If you, as an owner, believe the reported fuel readings at pick-up or return are incorrect you can request reimbursement for the difference reported.
